Barbara Ann Corcoran

               Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated, speaker writer, author and television show host. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months she left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared on each seasons of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in a Catholic Irish working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran's career. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as one who often was a drinker and did her mother a disservice and sneer, especially after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at a Catholic primary school within her area and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
