Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th 1964) was an American politician, attorney, and the current vice president of the United States. Harris is the first vice president to be female and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general for California from 2011 to 2017 and also as an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010 and was reelected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who advocated for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. In the news, attention was paid to her shrewd questions of Trump administration officials at Senate hearings. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
